“I’ve always known that [my son] adores math and science, but I have never
seen him rave about a class. It’s about time!”“As perfect a math class as possible.”
In our Math and Physics Circles, students learn concepts and techniques they’ll see nowhere else, in a context that emphasizes the beauty, power, and elegance of mathematics. The goal: to introduce kids to the real meat of mathematical thinking in all its elegant glory.
We’ve got a new batch of circles and classes coming up in March! Go to http://depts.washington.edu/cscy/programs/saturday/ to register.

What students say about our classes:
“This class was my favorite math class I’ve ever been in. It has been both intellectually stimulating and interesting. The pacing of the class was perfect. The explanations were perfect.”
“I truly love your classes and I am learning so much!”
What parents say:
Our intention was to take a kid who is strong in math, but with a deep arts focus, and give her the chance to see math as creative. She was originally resigned to her parents signing her up for this, then overwhelmed by the first day, and now says it’s the fastest hour of her week. It’s so great to see her engaged in math, grappling with it, apart from school, [where the program] is learn it and do it and move on.
What observers say:
“Katherine’s classes were very active, and she exuded interest and competence… the students liked her and learned from her easily.”
“Dan is a natural teacher - exceedingly personable and engaging while holding a clear focus on making math concepts understandable and intellectually interesting.”
“I saw first hand how engaged and excited the children were about what they were doing and learning. It was absolutely wonderful to see such energy, not only from the kids, but from both of you. I was tired just watching your enthusiasm and passion for your subject and the students… we are so fortunate to have you sharing your love of mathematics with our students. Truly, I thank you again for doing such a splendid job.”
