Math Bingo!
May 19, 2026With summer coming soon, you can count on libraries and elementary schools to send home all kinds of reading incentives for the summer. One thing our library has served up in the past is reading Bingo for summer – a list of different kinds of books (and places to read them) arranged in a Bingo board. Sometimes they even partner with an ice cream shop – make a bingo, and get a free kids scoop!
In the same spirit, my colleagues and Early Family Math and I have put together this Math Bingo board, perfect for some fun, low-key, summer math for 3 – 8 year-olds!
If you’re a parent, use it with your kids at home!
If you’re a teacher, hand it out to families!
If you’re connected to a library, it’s a perfect companion to your summer reading challenges! (And if you can get a local ice cream parlor to provide the reward for completing it, all the better!)

What a clever twist on the summer reading Bingo tradition, right down to the ice cream shop partnership. One square I would love to see on the board is an estimation challenge: have the kids guess how many scoops tall a sundae can get before it tips over, then measure for real. Turning the reward itself into a measurement question keeps the math alive even during the celebration.
Maybe we’ll put an estimation spot on the board for next summer!
